Penguin Young Readers

Since 2013 I’ve been involved in several projects for the ‘Who Was’ and ‘What Was’ series of books for Penguin Young Readers. Most recently I completed my 31st title for this series; “Who Is Willie Nelson?”. For a complete checklist of titles, check the bibliography page in the menubar.

I do the black and white interior illustrations for these books, and they usually contain about 80 illustrations each. I’ve only ever done one color cover (“What Was the Lewis and Clark Expedition?”) and the covers are usually handled by another artist who can work in their unusual “big head style” that ties the series together.

This series of books is probably the most recognizable work that I do, as the series has been on the New York Times bestseller list several times.
