On your mark, get set…

MacMillan

After finishing up the ‘Sun Also Rises’ and the ‘Harlem Renaissance’ projects in mid July, I had a two week slow period. This week the limbo came to an end as two of the upcoming projects I had been waiting on got the green light this week. I’m currently working on another ‘Who Was’ book on Charles Shultz, and just got started on finishes for a Climate Change book for MacMillan which has been in the works for a few years. I’m also waiting on the green light on one more ‘Who Was’ book which I expect to hear from in the next week or so. Gonna be a busy August.

In other news, I saw the first mention of the “Cooking for Wizards, Warrior and Dragons” on Twitter this morning, and I checked on Amazon and it looks like it will be released on August 31, and is now available for pre-order. I had a lot of fun with this project earlier in the year, so be sure and reserve your copy today!

Into July

Delaware Today, Skyhorse Publishing

As we head into July, I’m finishing up the last few illustrations for ‘The Sun Also Rises’ (two of which are pictured above and below, with one more to come tomorrow), and just before our weekend festivities, I finished up a quick turnaround piece for Delaware Today on Black Men’s Social Clubs of the late 1800s (pictured at bottom).

Happy 4th of July

First Second, MacMillan

Over the 4th of July holiday, Dan Rather posted the first chapter from his book “What Unites Us” (with a timely story from his childhood). Hop on over to his “Steady” page for the rest of the posting. Myself, I spent the 4th up at an annual Campout Jamboree (cancelled last year of course), with many dear friends, playing music all day and night. Batteries recharged, and now back to work.
