In 1987 and 1988 I was getting more and more frustrated with the Graphic Arts as a career, and was tired of what felt like “running away” from my drawing talents. I felt as if I had put all my early ambitions away in a closet, never to be spoken of again (actually, sort of what happened to my Mother and my Grandfather). I took a couple of Life Drawing classes at the local community college, and was introduced to some new techniques that I hadn’t considered before, namely chalk and oil pastels (and my first experience with scratchboard as well). These drawings were all of my wife between 1987 and 1989.
